The Journey Of Faith 2

Believing In The Dream

Exodus 14: 13-14
Moses answered the people, " Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still."
So on the 20th of February I stepped out despite my past experience and went to my visa interview. I was confident that God had made the way ahead of me and I need only to walk in it. Do not get me wrong I was a bit scared and at one point in time afraid so I prayed and seek to believe God at His Word.
“Your visa has been approved” he said. Did I hear clearly? Yes I did, this was my first step in going to Denver Colorado to do a YWAM school. School of Worship, Intercession, Spiritual Warfare and Evangelism (WISE) from May 11– August 7.
The Finances are coming in. God has swung the door open I need only to walk in.

The Journey of faith

Making My Dream A Reality

I have been a part of Youth With A Mission Jamaica since my Discipleship Training School (DTS) in 2004.  Youth With A Mission I (YWAM) Is an inter-denominational, non-profit Christian, missionary organization.
YWAM has two locations in Jamaica, one in Montego Bay and the other in South Manchester. I have been at the Manchester campus since 2006 when I did a course called Teachers for the Nations Jamaica. On completion I joined the teaching staff of Bethel Christian School( BCS). I have been teaching the grade six class for the past six years.
As I have served here I have come to the realization that the Lord is calling me to  foster care and adopting children and to use worship as a tool for restoring and reviving the spirits of children.
I believe a school of worship would equip me to begin this journey. I have therefore applied and been accepted to do a YWAM School of Worship, Intercession, Spiritual Warfare and Evangelism (WISE)in  Denver, Colorado May—August 2015 .
Would you consider partnering with me to  make this first step into God’s dream for hurting children reality?

Finances in USD:
Tuition: $3795 (Tuition Breakdown: $3495 covers cost of food, housing and activities during the school. $300 covers cost of resource fees)
Books: $60

My Journey With God

Time flies by so quickly, it seems as if only yesterday the last school year had begun.

My students did well in the  national exam called the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) and has moved on to high school. Two of them is going to the school of their choice. I have great expectations of what they will accomplish. My prayer is that the Truth that they have been taught would have been written in their hearts so that they will be able to STAND.

The Power of One

This year I have only one student . I have learned that one is important without it there would not be two. Andrew wants to be a soldier and I believe with hard work and prayer it can happen.

Where Do I Go From Here?
I have been accepted to do the School of Worship, Intercession, Spiritual Warfare and Evangelism (WISE) in Denver, Colorado.
 This course includes training regarding:
 1. Prayer/ Intercession
2. Identity in Christ
3. Evangelism
4. Gifts of the Spirit
5. Spiritual Warfare
6. Freedom in Worship among other things.

 The Dream

Ever since I can remember I was always singing. Growing up in a Christian environment I learnt a lot of songs which I am grateful for today. In May 2015 I am going to Denver, Colorado to do the School of Worship, Intercession, Spiritual Warfare and Evangelism (W.I.S.E). I am looking forward with great expectations to see all God has in store. Let the adventure begin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Created to Create

I started out just making bracelets having learnt a pattern from a friend. Now it has become one of the things I love to do.

Preparing In The Journey

Serving While Waiting

For the past few years I have been serving at  the YWAM Stones Hope campus in South Manchester Jamaica as the grade six teacher at Bethel Christian School. In taking on this task I have to prepare my students for the national exam called the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT). In the upcoming school year they will more on to high school which begins at grade seven.  This year I have three students Samoya Gordon, Ashton Taylor and Shania Walker. (from left to right)

It is amazing to see how time flies and soon they will graduate from primary school and move on to high school. I tell my students the older you get the more responsibility you will acquire. Are they ready for the challenges ahead? My desire is that they will stand out as ones who follows Christ no matter what and is willing to stand up for Truth even if they stand alone.

Upcoming Plans
There is a regional staff conference in the Dominican Republic that I would like to be apart of. It will be from the 5th-10th of May. This is an opportunity to learn more about what is happening in the region and also to build new relationships.

In March 2013 I went to serve on the YWAM campus in Trinidad and Tobago and I would like to go back this summer. Currently the director and his family are the only ones there.

RAISING MOSES' HAND- Serving Those Who Serve

Ephesians 3:20  Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.

This verse has become true to me in this season of my journey. I got the opportunity to go to the YWAM campus in Trinidad. It was the day before I was to leave I got the rest of the money to buy my ticket. There were many miracles along the way as I stepped out in faith. God indeed is interested in every detail of our lives. He is a father who takes care of His children.

Being an answer to someone’s prayer;

The James family, along with three DTS students is the only persons at the campus at this time. They needed someone to serve in the kitchen and that is where I served. A team from the United States came for a week, a lot more mouths to feed and build new relationships in the process.

I was also greatly impressed by the involvement of the children in the ministry and their love for God.

Reflections
  • Our stories may be different but God uses them as stepping stones to our destiny to bring about glory to Himself
  • God is interested in every detail of our lives and surprises us along the way

Where do I go from here?
I am hoping to go to Benin to serve for a month, teaching English to children at an orphanage managed by a fellow Jamaican.

    Prayer Points
  • Upcoming trip to Benin in July to serve at the orphanage
  • For others to come alongside the James family in YWAM Trinidad
  • God’s continued protection and provision
  • Continued health and wisdom
  •

Reflection
In September of 2004 I started on a journey that would change my life forever. I did my Discipleship Training School (DTS) and my life was ruined for the ordinary. This step I never regret taking for it was during this time that God spoke volumes in my life. I learnt to hear His voice and this transformed my thinking. I would encourage every believer to this course.
Following my DTS I completed Foundations in Community Development (FCD). This course taught me that true transformation begins from within. I also learnt that our sins are not only a hindrance to us as individuals but also our communities and our nations.
Teachers for the Nations Jamaica (TFNJ) was what God implanted on my heart to do, so in 2006 I moved to the Mandeville campus, Stones Hope. I believe that our children are indeed our future and as we disciple them we can transform nations.
On completion I became an assistant teacher and then moved on to be the grade six teacher and I have been for the past three years.

Access Camp- is a Ministry of Youth With A Mission geared towards Christian, ages 11-21yrs. The theme for this year was “Accessing the power of the Holy Spirit”

This is where they learn to develop a deeper relationship with God and build close relationships. One could say this is a mini DTS.

Bethel Christian School (BCS)- “Discipling the Nation through Education”

It is said "if you want to change a nation, teach her children." This is our goal in teaching the children at Bethel Christian School. We do this using the Bible as the core curriculum of every subject knowing that we are not only training them for time but for eternity.

Currently we are working to build bathrooms for the school in close proximity; this will facilitate both teachers and students of the school.

Summer News – Two teams came to partner with us in advancing the kingdom through door to door evangelism and vacation bible school. They also helped with the needs on our campus. During hurricane Ivan a lot of our building lost their roofs. For some time now our chapel has been without a ceiling. Praise be to God with the help of friends from Canada this task has finally been accomplished. The Great House was also repainted.

Kings Kids camp- is a Ministry of Youth With A Mission geared towards children ages 5-16 yrs. The theme for this year was “Joshua Generation- Leading Righteously, Following Righteousness.” The aim of this camp is to disciple children in the ways of the Lord so they can impact their generation. There were 36 children in camp this year.

Foster Care- A place of refuge I would say for children whom God has sent our way. God indeed sets the lonely into families. Through this children are raised in Godly families and the heart of God is greatly revealed.

Retreats
Local church or youth groups use our campus in this manner.

Staff Conference
As a ministry (YWAM Jamaica) we meet every year to pause and reflect on the year that has passed what lessons there were to be learnt and how to move forward. This helps to knit us together as a family and as a ministry.

Training Opportunities

CDTS - Crossroads Discipleship Training School – Sep 2011
TFNJ - Teachers for the Nations Jamaica - To be announced
BCS - Bethel Christian School a Christian private school in Jamaica – Kindergarten to grade six

Unreached People Groups

Unreached people groups are peoples in parts of the world where there is no indigenous expression of the gospel, no indigenous Christian church, and a minute ratio of long term missionaries to the unsaved population.
As believers we are called to go. This aspect of going can happen in different ways.
1. You can pray for those who are going.
2. You can give of your time, finances and moral support.
3. You can also go

As a ministry (YWAM Jamaica) we have adopted a people group from the Gambia in West Africa called the Serahule or Soninke tribe. We have short term missions’ trip going to the Gambia each year. You can be apart of it.

Currently
I have been accepted to do WISE- School of Worship, Intercession, Spiritual Warfare and Evangelism in Colorado, USA. This is set for the 25th of June 2012. I would also like to go to Kenya to serve for two years. My ultimate goal is to raise children from across the world as my own teaching them the love of Christ through worship and intercession.

Praise Report
• In being apart of YWAM I have to raise my own finances. A small contribution (staff fees) is given by each staff member each month to help with the basic needs of the ministry. At the end of last year I owed $200,000 JAD, which was paid off. Praise Be To God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

• One of the foster children here has always dreamed of attending Bishop Gibson High School for Girls after completing the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT). Her dream was finally realized when the results came out in June. This shows that all things are possible with hard work and perseverance.

Prayer Needs
• More teachers for BCS
• Finances to help with the building of the bathrooms
• Finances- staff fees
• Health and protection
• Staff Laptops/Cameras
• Computers for BCS
• For God’s dreams to be fulfilled in the ministry and my life

Roxann's News

Since my Discipleship Training School (DTS) in September 2004 I have been serving with Youth With A Mission (YWAM), Jamaica. It has been a life changing experience for me. The Lord has really been using this time to mold my character.

It was during my DTS I believe that the Lord placed it upon my heart to invest my life in managing a home for children from across the world. This will be a place of refuge, a place to call home where children will know and experience the love of God the Father.

In June 2006 I left YWAM Montego Bay to attend Teachers for the Nations Jamaica (TFNJ) at the Stone’s Hope campus in Manchester.

This course trains missionary teachers to use the Bible as the core curriculum of every subject. This is known as the Principle Approach.

For the past two consecutive years I have been teaching the grade six class at Bethel Christian School which is apart of the ministry of YWAM Jamaica.

This time in their lives is a crucial as they are being prepared to make the transition from primary school to high school. This year is also when the students sit the national exam called the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT). This exam is based on these subject areas: Arithmetic, Science, Language Arts and Social Studies. The exam will be given on March 25th and 26th.

One of YWAM’s foundational stones is going to the nations. This coming March I will be going on a missions trip to India. God said if we ask for the nations He will give them to us as our inheritance.

Prayer Points:

· For God’s continued guidance in directing my steps

· For openness to hear what God has to say and do it

· For God’s continued protection

Needs:

· A laptop

· Finances for a new pair of glasses

· A digital camera

· Finances towards my upcoming trip to India

· Financial support to help with my basic needs and also to pay off of the debt I owe the ministry
